FUTUREVISION AWARD WINNERS 2021

A huge congratulations to all our SSF UK members for your achievements this year and to all those who have been nominated and shortlisted.

The winners this year are as followers:

COMMUNITY - Elaine Halewood, Asda Business Services

Elaine’s passion for her colleagues’ physical and mental health in lockdown has been outstanding. In championing the Slipperette Walks, she has got them out and about ‘virtually visiting’ different locations around the Globe. From the breadth of the UK to Route 66 – every walking challenge comes a daily update about the location with fascinating local gossip. The amount of work that Elaine puts into this is tremendous.  She’s had great feedback from her colleagues on the ‘walks’, has raised money for charity in doing it and even the colleagues who haven’t participated have thoroughly enjoyed the humorous daily updates.

LEADERSHIP - Ian Butterworth, ITV

At the time of Ian’s appointment, ITV started work on a huge project to replace its ERP system. In doing so it decimated the existing Leadership team (LT) - four out of the six were seconded onto the 2–3 year project. This required an urgent response from to set up a new structure that would seamlessly ensure the continuity of service the BSC provided to the Business. Ian chose to offer a development opportunity to a member from each of the BSC functions, for them to step up and enrich their management skills and also to introduce and train them in the art of strategic planning for a Business-critical function comprising 100+ personnel. Ian didn’t take the easy route. And he well respected by the OMT because of it, who appreciate his belief in them. In return they each strive to ensure they play an active and useful role in the day to day running of the BSC.

EVOLUTION - Performance & Productivity Improvement Team – Central England Co-operative

Thanks to SSF UK members, Central England Co-operative had the idea of implementing Robotic Process Automation (RPA) at the Society. The impact of such technology to support with the challenges presented via changes to ways of working supported the drive to land this transformational piece of activity.

In order to implement, a member of the Shared Services leadership team took on the role of Project Manager.  Business case development continued over the summer, with proof of concepts in HR and Finance carried out virtually. Steering committees were spun up as of September, Executive sign off December and despite recruitment challenges, the RPA centre of excellence was in place as of March 2021.

5 automations are live (current saving of 700 hours) and 7 in development, along with a Society wide engagement and discovery programme to leverage the newly developed capabilities.

DISRUPTIVE INNOVATION AWARD - Raytheon Technologies Specialised Services team (Jessica Ritchie, Clare Hunt, Lee Daniel & Natascha Garcia

Raytheon Technologies Specialised Services team has pioneered an innovative way to deliver cost-effective, efficient, accessible HR support.

They disrupted the traditional 3-legged HR model by moving into the grey spaces between HRSSCs, HRPs and COEs. Their vision was to create a remote, generalist HR team providing high-quality coaching and informal COE advice, enabled by leveraging HRSSC digital technology. People were their secret weapon, directly engaging employees through virtual and in-person events, building trust with HR colleagues and levelling-up the team’s capability.

The results were remarkable: £1.2m costs saved, portal hits tripled and case volume doubled. They are now deploying globally!

MOST ENGAGED MEMBER ORGANISATION - Hallmark Cards

Thank you very much for your support of SSF UK across all of our network, events, the website and through your knowledge sharing during 2021

MOST ENGAGED NETWORK CHAIR - Lisa Dennis, SPX Flow & Jenny Roberts, Places for People

We specifically want to recognise the collaborative approach that Jenny and Lisa bring to the network chairing role. They are both extremely busy with their day jobs – and yet, this year, on top of the standard network events, they have worked together to deliver additional specialist roundtable events, they have embraced and incorporated panel discussions and sli.do as engagement tools to help increase participation and knowledge sharing across the members attending HR/Payroll event – and most importantly, together, they have really driven additional value within the HR/Payroll network, gaining positive feedback from our members and sponsors around the events that they co-chair

Awards will be going out to you next week and again congratulations from all of us at SSF UK.
