In another edition of our #mysharedservicesStory feature, we interviewed ER Services Manager, Sam Anderson about life in her Shared Services Centre
My HR career spans 17 years, working in both service partnering roles alongside central HR shared service teams. I really enjoy the people aspect of my role and watching my team develop and grow both their skills and experience, as well as their confidence. My current role is Employee Relations Services Manager at Sodexo, where I am responsible for both the delivery of ER and compliance services to the UK&I business. My team are based in our HR Shared Services centre, PeopleCentre, which is located in Salford. The team provide remote support to Managers on employee relations issues, ensuring Managers are well supported and coached when managing a case. My team are also responsible for ensuring compliance across the business in relation to right to work and relevant security checks, as well as pre-employment checks.

My biggest achievements are:
There are many challenges that face my role on a day to day, week to week basis. For me, it is about being pragmatic and calm when faced with a challenge, and working through the solution in a logical manner. I see challenges as opportunities to learn, develop and grow from.
Being a member of the SSF UK forum, has given me the opportunity to meet likeminded HR professionals who are in a similar role and who are able to share their experiences with me. This helps me with ideas on how to develop my team and the service that we provide to the business. This year, I have taken on the role of deputy chair for the HR Shared Service forum, which has involved me in shaping the agenda for the year on what the forum want to cover and learn more about.
