Generously hosted by Martin Kirby from Kier and ably chaired by Sarah Duckworth and Scott Worth, the latest SSF UK Operational Excellence meeting saw an agenda packed with practical insights. From an introduction to Kier, including many innovative examples of how technology is used there, to a field trip to the local Amazon Fulfilment Centre at Manchester Airport, members were treated to operational excellence in action!
We were happy to welcome our new network sponsors, Winshuttle, to the meeting. Their focus areas of People, Process and Data align directly with the focus areas of SSFUK. Linking in directly with SAP ERP systems, the team took us through a summary of the Winshuttle tools, ranging from attended automation to automating processes such as intercompany invoicing and purchase requisitions.
You can find a summary of the meeting in the network resources section of the website but both Scott and Sarah are very keen that the quarterly meetings are not the only opportunity for the network to collaborate – please follow up on the connections made in the meeting or use the website to reach out to Shared Services facing similar challenges – there will be someone facing the same issue!
Based on the attendees’ input, the priority in the next session will be learnings around Robotics – which is probably the hot topic in operational excellence right now. We’ll be in touch soon with a confirmed agenda but in the meantime, please save the 4th July 2019 in your diaries!
