We are excited to announce and welcome Duncan Trubody, OTC Services Director at SPX Flow as our new Co-Chair for the Order to Cash Network, along side Martin Kirby.
Duncan was born and educated in Stockport, South Manchester, and after leaving full time education packed his bags and moved to the south coast of the England for a summer job working as a waiter in a seaside resort hotel. He enjoyed the summer working in a holiday town and as he had made some friends in the area, decided to see if he could settle there on a more permanent basis. Duncan applied for a job working for a Factoring subsidiary of a Bank, and was taken on in a rotation scheme to be trained in all areas of factoring and invoice discounting. As with most on our given profession; credit management is not something you specifically educate & train for, but something you fall into. Duncan did exactly the same; his first role in invoice financing cut his teeth on customer, risk, cash-flow & financing and he never looked back !
Duncan developed his experience in credit management in varied sectors such as Rail Freight, Construction Equipment, Manufacturing & Car Leasing before moving into a Shared Services environment in 1999. He took a role working for Ingersoll Rand based in Horwich, as by this time had left the south coast and relocated back to his home town. Through his years at Ingersoll, they created a Shared Services Centre for the EMEA region where they migrated a variety of their business lines into the SSC. A decision was taken to further expand the SSC and implement a new ERP, and the location for the SSC was to be transferred to Dublin, Ireland. Duncan took the opportunity to relocate to Dublin with his role which was a great opportunity to completely resource the new team from scratch, and further expand the services and scope of the SSC
Duncan returned to the UK in 2006 and took up roles at Manchester Airport and then Astra Zeneca, but his next major challenge was accepting an opportunity to join SPX Flow as OTC Director in 2010. SPX Flow were creating a new SSC based in Didsbury, South Manchester. Duncan is still in this role and has just completed his 10 year anniversary. It has been an ever demanding role, but one that ultimately has been rewarding and fulfilling. SPX Flow currently cover both the EMEA and US regions for order to cash services, and continue to expand scope and scale, and drive innovation and process improvement.
Duncan is a proud dad to a 13 year old girl and a 10 year old boy which keeps him busy outside of work. He is also a cricket coach at his local club for the Juniors section, and just started on an new allotment to try and grow his ow ! He also has a young cocker spaniel which is ever demanding but gives him a reason to go on long walks !
We look forward to having Duncan on the team and working with him on our network events throughout the rest of 2020.
